The escape of Donnet and Divoy is an event where two Belgian pilots escaped Germans during World War II from Belgium to England to join the RAF.
Michel Donnet and Léon Divoy were two Belgian pilots with a flight ban during the war. Both wanted to join England at the RAF.
For this reason, they took an undeveloped SV-4 from a Block of Hoeilaart estate, restored them, distilled themselves their carrots from autobenzine and flew in the night of 4 July 5, 1941 to England (Thorpe-le- Soken.). On their way they were shot by a firearm that heard their plane fly over.
A monument is located in the meadow in Overijse, where the two pilots flew away.
