Metal free (without metal) is a definition used in dental / dental technology to classify fixed prosthetic rehabilitation without a metal support. Describe the wikitesto modification
The main products used to make these prostheses are: composite resins, feldspar ceramics, lithium disilicate and zirconium oxide. Composite resins are the least stable over time as they tend to decolorize. Feldspatic ceramic is surely the most aesthetic and stable material over time, it is indicated for the restoration of front teeth. The lithium disilicate is superimposed as aesthetic features of feldspatic ceramics but with higher hardness characteristics and is therefore also indicated for restorations on the back teeth. Zirconium oxide is the most durable material, but does not possess the aesthetic features of feldspar ceramics. It is used as a metal replacement material, therefore it has to be coated with a feldspar ceramic coating. Zirconium oxide can also be used to build dental bridges.
