Mexihco was one of the three central states of the Aztec Triple Alliance, better known as the Aztec Empire. The Triple Alliance was formed in 1428. The capital of Mexihco was Tenochtitlan, which was immediately the capital of the entire empire.
A tlahtoani (Nahuatl for 'speaker') was in charge of each of the three states. Mexihco's tlahto tribute was called hueyi tlahtoani (great speaker), and was head of the entire empire. The hueyi tlahtoanians are usually called Aztec emperors.
The current country of Mexico is called Mexihco. The 'h' in Mexihco is not always displayed. The h is in the Nahuatl the so-called saltillo, which was not pronounced in any dialect.
