Otus (motorcycle)

Otus is a historic French brand that made sporty mopeds and 50 cc road racing motorcycles.

The production of the Otus mopeds began in 1971. The brand responded to the demand for sporty mopeds that were in France for sale, but were mainly imported from Italy. At the end of the 1970s, the demand for these moped bikes became smaller: demand for cheap models with automatic gearboxes became even bigger. Also the French government was not charmed by the acceleration bicycles and gave support to Motobécane and Peugeot, which mainly produced vending machines. In the spring of 1980, the sale of gear mopeds was even completely forbidden. Otus tried to continue the sale by installing vending machines in its sports bikes, but had to stop production in 1981.
