While living conditions in the human colony deteriorate further, Nicole and her family escape to New York Island. Here she comes into contact with the alien Octospiders. These tolerate the enemy behavior of human settlers for a long time, but return mercilessly when they find out that aggressive people want to destroy the Octospider colony. The conflict is thus threatening to eliminate the elimination of the human colony.
As a response, Rama sends a second emergency signal to its unknown builders that threatens total escalation.
