Riverside Shakespeare

The Riverside Shakespeare is a long series of editions of William Shakespeare's full work, published by the Houghton Mifflin Company.

The first Riverside Shakespeare was edited by Richard Grant White and published in 1883 and 1901.

A new version was published in 1974 as a full scientific edition, with introductions and notes for each play, as well as several essays about the life of Shakespeare and his works. The general editor was G. Blakemore Evans. The revised edition of 1996/1997 is remarkable because it was the first "Complete Works" edition that also included the controversial piece Edward III. The first Riverside included 1927 pages, the revised version - which can also be obtained in two parts - has 2057 pages.
