Tempo Records


Tempo Records was a British record label for jazz records. It was founded in 1946 by Colin Pomroy and Ron Davis, and next to Esquire was one of the most important labels for post-war jazz of English soil. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, the traditional jazz recordings, including Humphrey Lyttelton, brought out. After it came to Decca Records in 1955, it featured mostly with modern jazz records in the second half of the fifties. The label was active until 1960. Musicians from whom Tempo released albums include Don Rendell, Jimmy Deuchar, Victor Feldman, Tubby Hayes, Betty Smith, Alexis Korner and Ronnie Scott. Most of Tempo's contemporary jazz records have been released on CD by Jasmine Records.
