Manneke Pop was a Dutch radio program from the KRO broadcast at Hilversum 3 from September 1981 to September 1983 on the fixed CRO wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 and was presented by Flemish DJ Peter van Dam and directed by Ton Zandkamp. History
Peter van Dam worked in the Netherlands first for the TROS and then for the AVRO where he presented the program A Round of Dam. The starting point was as follows: First a ladies voice with the words "KRO Hilversum 3", than a men's voice with the words "Peter van Dam" and then a ladies voice with a heavy French accent that "Manneke Pop troops at the KRO at Hilversum trois on Wednesday morning "said.
In October 1983, the program was replaced by Life begins after seven with Peter Koelewijn who was attracted by the KRO as a DJ to enter into competition with Veronica. Peter van Dam then presented the program? in the afternoon. In December 1985, Manneke Pop returned and was broadcast on the fixed KRO Sunday from 17:00 to 19:00.
After the first album, a class teacher was called out of bed after 7:00. Students could send a postcard with their class teacher's phone number and if they would take the phone within a certain number of seconds, both the student and the class teacher could win a prize. The VARA program also took place, but not with a class teacher but anybody who could give up, where both of them could win an alarm clock. At 7.30 and 8.30 there was a broadcast of the actuality class Echo.
Another solid part was "The Forgotten Vinyl", where Peter van Dam told the story behind a certain record. The program was known to run relatively much progressive pop music compared to other broadcasters (except VARA and VPRO). In June 1986, the program disappeared at the KRO, but in the 90's, Peter van Dam came back to Radio 10 Gold a few years ago. After that, from Dam until 24 October 2014, "Manneke Pop" continued to broadcast a live stream on the Internet every working day from 18:00 to 19:00.
