Periphery (geography)

The periphery is a geographic concept that means "border area" or "hinterland".

It may relate to different scale levels; At the local level, the suburbs and suburbs of a city are often referred to at the regional or national level (hinterland and inland), and at the global level, the less developed countries (including the Third World). < / p>

It is often in contrast to the term center. The center of a city is the heart of the city, where the amenities are. The center of a country is the most important area (often industrial, better developed and on the coast), and the center of the world are the rich, mostly capitalist countries (also the First World).
