Small zoo

The small soybean (Panurgus calcaratus) is a fleece-like insect of the Andrenidae family. The scientific name of the species was published for the first time in 1763 by Giovanni Antonio Scopoli.

The species is 7 to 9 millimeters long in females and 8 to 9 millimeters in males. The flight time is from June to September, the peak is half past July at the males and at the end of July at the females. The females dig a nest into a sandy, slightly soaked soil. Multiple females use the same nest entrance, but each create their own nest space.
