Stattum

Stattum was a settlement on the wadden island of Terschelling, province of Friesland (Netherlands). Stattum is located north of the Halfweg district (Terschelling). In 1566 there were nine houses on Stattum. In the 18th century there were still seven. During that period, however, the hamlet became the victim of dirt sand due to overgrazing. Stattum is still buried under a dune of more than 20 meters high.

The parcels on the north side of the main road through Halfweg still bear the name Stattumer Gardens. They are now decorated as a recreation site.
