Vito De Grisantis


Vito De Grisantis (Lecce, August 20, 1941 - Tricase, April 1, 2010) was an Italian bishop.

With a dissertation on marriage and family, he obtained a PhD at the Papal Lateran University and subsequently lectured at the University of Religion Sciences in Lecce. The Grisantis was dedicated to the priest on June 27, 1965. From 1975 to 2000 he was a pastor in Lecce. The Grisantis was famous for his involvement in giving microcredit to the poorest.

On 13 May 2000, he was appointed by John Paul II to Bishop of Ugento-Santa Maria di Leuca. On 29 July of that year, Salvatore De Giorgi dedicated him to Palermo archbishop.

Vito de Grisantis died after a long illness of a malignant lymphoma.
