Castle of La Motte-Glain


La Motte-Glain Castle (French: Château de la Motte-Glain) is a castle in the French municipality of La Chapelle-Glain. The castle is a protected historical monument since 1929. History

The castle was built by Pierre de Rohan-Gié in 1495 on the site of an old fortress of the Rouge men. Anna of Brittany and Charles VIII of France stayed in 1497 and Charles IX and Catharina the 'Medici in 1565. It was bought in 1635 by Michel le Loup. On January 7, 1926 it was registered as a historic monument. The house and the chapel were registered on July 6, 1929. The castle is open to the public.
