With a statement of engagement, the Flemish Ministry of Education and Training wants to indicate the parents responsibility for registering their children in Flemish education. The declaration of engagement is attached to the school regulations, which parents sign when enrolling their child. The principle was approved by the Flemish government on 17 December 2008 and will come into effect from school year 2010-2011.
