Kirti is the name of some Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. The original monastery was built in Gyalrang and was founded by Kirti Rinpoche.
Anno '00's the two main Kirtikloosters in Taktsang Lhamo and Ngawa in Sichuan. Takhang Lhamo was destroyed during the invasion of Tibet (1950-51) and was rebuilt in the late 20th century. In 1990, Kirti Rinpoche founded a Kirtik Monastery in Dharamsala, India.
There are around 30 to 40 smaller monasteries in Amdo connected to Kirti's monastery. A school belonging to the monastery was closed by the Chinese authorities in 1998. Also see
