Rie Kooyman


Rie Kooyman (also Rie Huysmans-Kooyman), (Oudkarspel, March 21, 1910 - Bergen, Noord-Holland, October 22, 1984) was a Dutch graphic artist, aquarelist, illustrator, wall painter and bookbuster designer.

She was registered as a marital candidate as Marie Hillegonda Kooijman. Her father was decorative painting. Her education was attended by the School of Decorative Arts and Art Exhibitions in Haarlem and at the Arts and Crafts School in Amsterdam. She married the artist Frans Huysmans in 1932 and had two children with him. They settled in Bergen and became friends with Charley Toorop and other artists living in Bergen. In the 1930s she made various bookshelf designs for the World Library.

For various periodicals and children's books she provided illustrations. She also made wall paintings for schools and ships. Literature
