Caroline Spencer is a character from the American soap series The Bold and the Beautiful. The role was one of the original roles when the series began in 1987 and was played by Joanna Johnson from 1987 to 1990 when her character died. In 2001 she returned as a spirit. Caroline was the daughter of Count Bill Spencer and fell in love with Ridge Forrester. She and Ridge wanted to marry when her father showed her pictures of Ridge with his old girlfriend Alex Simpson. Still, Caroline decided to marry her, but collapsed before she could take her vows. In the hospital she was visited by Brooke Logan, who was also in love with Ridge, and they became friends. After she got out of hospital, she went to her apartment. One evening, a certain Ron Deacon accompanied her to her apartment and raped her. Caroline did not want to live at home and joined Logans.
Ridge wrote a beautiful letter to Caroline, but Brooke, who spun together with Thorne, could intercept it. Thorne married Caroline and as she thought there was no future for them, she accepted her proposal. Brooke was her bridesmaid. When Caroline discovered the letter she was furious at Brooke and she said that their friendship was over. She said she would not tell Ridge if Brooke would stay out of her neighborhood. Although Brooke soon broke her promise, Caroline remained silent.
Caroline and Thorne's wedding ran on the cliffs after Thorne Ridge had shot down and Caroline married Ridge. Shortly thereafter, leukemia was identified with her. She gave Brooke her blessing, but did not know there was another shaper on the shore, Taylor Hayes accompanying her in her last weeks.
