CunCumen


Cuncumén, "murmuring water" in Mapuche, is a Chilean folk music group, formed in 1955 by a group of students from the University of Chile. They gained their inspiration from the Chilean countryside.

Between 1955 and 1973 nine LPs were recorded under the name "The folklore of Chile". The military coup of Pinochet featured the tenth LP. Members

Famous members were Rolando Alarcón, the first director and Víctor Jara, killed in 1973 by the Pinochet soldiers.
