Jeholodens is an extinct mammal from the Chalk. This primitive animal belongs to the order Triconodonta.
Jeholodens lived in China during the early chalk (about 125 million years ago). Nearly complete fossils are known from the Yixian formation of Liaoning. Jeholodens was about 12 centimeters long and had a rat-like appearance with a long tail. This primitive mammal was probably a night-intensive insect detector. The construction of the feet and the short fingers indicates that Jeholodens was a resident.
