Protadius (Latin: Protadius; fl 395-400 / 401; ... - ...) was a royal-Roman aristocrat and a Roman Emperor politician at the beginning of the fifth century. Biography modifies wikitesto

Gallico of origins, he was perhaps born in Trier. It is likely that his father was the Minervio who participated in the embassy of the Roman Senate at Valentinian Emperor II together with Vettio Agorio Pretestato and Volusio Venusto.

In 395 he went from Gallia to Mediolanum, while his brother Florentino was quaestor sacred palatii; but then returned to Gaul, living both in Trier and in the southern Gallia.

It was the praefectus urbi of Rome. The date is not ascertained, but was estimated between 400 and 401, considering that one of the sources for this office, Quinto Aurelio Simmaco, died in 402, and that there are only a few years available before; he was perhaps the successor to Nicomaco Flavian.
