The surrealist revolution

The surrealist revolution, aprile 1926

Surrealist Révolution is a magazine founded in 1924 by André Breton, Louis Aragon, Pierre Naville and Benjamin Péret. For five years it was the meeting point where the great themes of surrealism developed. The magazine featured dense columns of text as well as reproductions of works of art, such as Giorgio de Chirico, Max Ernst, André Masson and Man Ray.

In the first numbers there were the tales of the dreams of Breton, Raymond Queneau and Michel Leiris.

Pierre Naville and Benjamin Péret were the first directors. The magazine was provocative and revolutionary. Among the articles outlined in the twelve published issues are: Paul Éluard who celebrates the work of Marchese de Sade, Letter to the Pope of Antonin Artaud and the well-known surrealist game of the excellent cadavers. The last issue is published in December 1929 and contains the Second Manifesto of Breton Surrealism. Resolve wikitesto
