Bird protection means the aim of protecting birds or ensuring their well-being. It may concern the fate of individual birds or the safeguarding of bird habitats. Bird protection Netherlands (or shortly: Bird protection) is also the popular indication of the organization established in 1899 as the "Dutch Bird Protection Association", which deals with the interests and protection of birds.
Bird protection includes, among other things, legislation, such as the Birds Directive in Europe and the Flora and Fauna Act in the Netherlands.
Worldwide there are several bird protection organizations that often operate at national level. More than 100 of these national organizations are united in the Birdlife International umbrella organization.
