Casengolo

The barrister was an agricultural worker working seasonally on behalf of landowners in the country in exchange for a cash consideration and often a meal. In an 1860 census made in the hamlet of Tordandrea in Assisi, the civil status of the 85 families present is classified as follows: n. 29 horseshoes, 24 colonists, 1 colonist, 4 horseshoes, 6 hunters, 3 landlords, 6 landowners, 2 small owners, 1 manure, 2 factors, 3 hounds, 2 carriages, 1 ostrich, 1 cobbler. The term has now fallen into disuse since this activity no longer exists, replaced by the agricultural worker, but still today the elderly use it to indicate who is a tenant of a dwelling.
