Deventer Op Stelten

Deventer Op Stelten is an annual recurring street theater festival in the Dutch city of Deventer. During the festival there will be a long weekend of theater companies from home and abroad in streets and squares in and around the city center. History

The festival was organized for the first time in 1997 as a summer event, for which especially theater groups were invited. In 2009, the festival also performed outside Deventer's city center with performances in the Worpplantsoen on the other side of the IJssel. Since 2013, the Beestenmarkt has also been involved in the Suburbs area. In that same year, the organization began to name an international outdoor theater festival, and the use of statues in the acts is no longer determining. Since 2014, as a quiet contradiction of the performances in the Worm Plant, the Hoogtevrees music festival takes place.

In 2014, the jury on the National Congress Events in Nijmegen called 'Deventer Op Stelten' to the Best Public Event 2014.

Every year, according to the organization, more than 100,000 people visit the festival. Externe link
