Goods transfer center Garocentre in La Louvière

This "Terminal Trimodal Garocentre" is a freight transfer and distribution center set up in the city of La Louvière in the industrial "Center" region of Hainaut, for distribution and transhipment of goods. This transhipment is connected to the railways, the waterways (Center Canal, Canal Charleroi-Brussels) and the highway network (via the A501, it is connected to the highways A15 and A7). This transshipment was established through the cooperation of the Port Authority of the Center et de l'Ouest (PACO) and the railways (NMBS) with the support of the Walloon Marshall Plan and Europe (FEDER). It was realized in the areas of the nearby steel manufacturer. In the first phase, this will make full use of the entry and exit capabilities.

In order to allow two inland waterway vessels to moor, the existing 200 m cage wall was extended by 65m. A connection was also provided with the railway line 116. In addition to the quay there is an installation for four rows of freight trains.

Every year, the tri-modal transhipment site will be able to skip at least 60,000 tonnes and 15,000 containers between lorries, trains and ships, all of which have direct access.
