Grieg Hall

Grieghallen is a concert hall in the Norwegian city of Bergen. The hall is named after the composer Edvard Grieg. In 1986 the Eurovision Song Contest took place.

Grieghallen is home to Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Norway's oldest symphony orchestra. In the concert hall a large part of the performances of the annual cultural festival Festspillene in Bergen (Bergen International Festival) take place. Grieghallen is also used as a trade fair and conference center.

The concert hall, designed by the Danish architect Knud Munk, was completed in 1978. The building covers an area of 3500 m and has a total of 4468 seats. The largest concert hall, Griegsalen, has 1509 seats. Underneath the building is an underground car park with space for 420 cars.

The hall is located at Edvard Griegsplass, in the triangle of the streets Nygårdsgaten, Strømgaten and Lars Hilles gate. The building is part of Bergen's cultural district, which includes Bergen Art Museum and Bergen Kunsthall. Also see
