Swedish Royal Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities

The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities (Swedish Kungliga Vitterhets, Historie och Antikvitets Akademien or Vitterhetsakademien) was founded in 1753 by the Royal Academy of Humanities.

The academy was founded by the wish of Queen Louisa Ulrica, mother of King Gustav III, and was originally dedicated only to literature. In 1786 when the Swedish Academy was founded, this academy also became new targets and renamed, focusing mainly on the preservation of historical and archaeological evidence.

There is close collaboration with the Swedish National Committee for the Heritage of Humanity (Riksantikvarieämbetet), whose director, ex officio, is also the Secretary of the Academy. Links externalize the wikitesto
