Cantabile is a symphonic suite composed of 2004 and 2009 by Frederik Magle. It consists of three symphonic poems (or movements) based on poems written by Henri de Laborde de Monpezat, published in the Cantabile book. La Cantabile was commissioned by the Danish royal family and the first poem was awarded in 2004. The second and third poems were premiered on June 10, 2009 at a concert in the Koncerthuset in Copenhagen organized to celebrate Prince 75's princess Henrik's 75th birthday. On both occasions the music was performed by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Choir, directed by Thomas Dausgaard.
