Georges Van Tieghem (Saint Michiels, January 7, 1924 - Bruges, January 14, 2000) was a popular figure from Bruges. He was especially known as Georges of the Guild or Little Georges.
Georges Van Tieghem became known as the guards of the bicycle storage at De Gilde (a number of buildings including the local departments of the CM, ACV and ACW) in the Oude Burg district of Bruges. In particular, he struck by his slight shape of 1.08 meters. For the organizations of The Guild he also sold annual lottery tickets. He also made a chat with passers-byers or left the road. He was also happy to see children, for whom he always had stickers.
Georges was also known as local singer, mondharmonic player and supporter of Club and Cercle Brugge. He often participated in pilgrimage, which made him a famous guest in the Flemish Ardennes, Lourdes, Rome and Switzerland.
Georges Van Tieghem lived in St. Joseph for a long time, where he died in 2000. In 2002, he obtained a bronze statue in the Church Square of St. Joseph.
