Kromme IJssel

The Kromme IJssel west of the A2

The Kromme IJssel is a short river in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It has a total length of 2.75 km and falls within the Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden.

The Kromme IJssel starts in Nieuwegein and is a division of the Hollandse IJssel, where it takes a sharp turn to the north at the Doorslag. The first part flows along the IJsselbos, then passes under the A2 and runs around the Het Klaphek area with an arc, before the river flows as the Enge IJssel.

The Kromme IJssel used to be part of the Hollandse IJssel, when it was still connected to the Lek at Het Klaphek.
