Raksi

distillation of Raksi

Raksi of rakshi (रक्सी) is a distilled alcoholic drink traditionally drunk in Tibet and Nepal. Raksi is usually made of rice and can be compared to Japanese rice wines. Raksi can also be made of millet making it a different taste.

During special events, raksi is given from a high altitude into a so-called bhatti glass, which gives a spectacular view. Raksi is important in religious rituals.

Because of the popularity in Nepal, a fight for drinking was established, with women groups taking action to ban raksi. Externe link Also see
