Second Verdict

Second Verdict is a six-digit BBC television series of 1976, with dramatized documentaries in which classic criminal and unresolved crimes from history were re-assessed by fictional police officers.

In Second Verdict, Stratford Johns and Frank Windsor, for the last time together with their dual performance as Detective Chief Superintendents Barlow and Watt, were popular with television viewers of the long-range Z-Cars, Softly, Softly and Barlow at Large.

Second Verdict was based on the formula of the BBC series Jack the Ripper of 1973, in which a dramatized documentary was made together with a discussion between the two police men.

Although this would be the last time Barlow and Watt were together on British television, Watt's figure came back in the last episode of Z-Cars in September 1978. Episodes
