Stijn Fens (Haarlem, February 20, 1966) is a Dutch journalist.
Fens is the youngest son of literary critic and Volkskrant reviewer Kees Fens. He graduated from the University of Amsterdam in the subject of European Studies, with Italian as a major. He joined the KRO in 1990, where he became a reporter at Cross Point. Later he became editor-in-charge of the programs Between Heaven and Earth, Soeterbeeck and Focal Point.
Fens made a report about the funeral of Pope John Paul II and the subsequent conclave. He often provided television broadcasts from Vatican City commentary.
At the beginning of 2008 he and Bart Ruijs made a series about daily life in the Vatican. This series received a sequel in 2009. In 2010, Fens' hand appeared the book of Vatican. The Secrets of the Pope (ISBN 9789025367695). In 2013 the New Pope appeared, a book about Pope Franciscus.
Since 2015, he has been editorial psychologist at newspaper Trouw. Also, Fens writes a column in the newspaper every Saturday. On 27 October 2015, Fens was one of the four journalists who made the first Dutch-speaking interview with Pope Franciscus. The interview was published on November 6 in Straatnieuws, the Utrechtse Dakota newspaper and in various other homeless newspapers around the world.
