Calchaquies

The Calchaquies are a branch belonging to the main tribe of the Diaguitas of Argentina. People of advanced culture had to fail to be peaceful when, in 1561, Juan Calchaqui (from whom the tribe's name) led them to defend their lands armed with stone axes, bows and arrows; the company ended with negative outcomes in 1565, when conquistadores won and distributed them all over the country in order to avoid any possible rebellion.
