Fort Vredeburg anno 1900-1940.

Fort Vredeburg, also known as Vredenburg or Rustenburg, is a fortress in Jogjakarta built by the Dutch during colonization. The fort is situated opposite Gedung Agung, one of the seven presidential palaces in Indonesia. It was built in 1765 to protect the Dutch governor. The complex is surrounded by a still visible trench. The square fort has a watch tower on every corner.

The fort houses a museum. In some buildings there are dioramas about the independence struggle in Indonesia.
