In mathematics and electrical engineering, a binary Golay code is a type of forward error correction code used in digital communication.
The binary Golay code, along with the ternary Golay code within the group theory, a mathematical part of the mathematics, has a particularly deep and interesting connection with the theory of the finite sporadic groups. The codes are named after the Swiss-American mathematician Marcel J.E. Golay.
