call Chair

Pulpit from Ghent City Hall

A vocal chair is a fixed place or stolen, from which regulations were read in earlier times. To make known when such a happening occurred, the clock usually sounded. The pulpit was a stone balcony with closed chest pads, located on the first floor of the town hall, where the meeting room was located. Such a facility was first used in late Gothic buildings.

The crib later developed the balcony, which originally fulfilled the role of status symbol in major homes. Externe link
