The category

The section "It gets too much for Corneel" ran continuously from 1984 to 2012 in the Humo magazine. The series was about an old man, Cornelius Bracke, whose name is often shortened to "Corneel". All pieces are said to be written by Cornelius Bracke himself and often deals with the events in his village and his dealings with local residents. The inscriptions outline a satirical picture of Flemish society and also regularly update the actuality.

The curses around Corneel are always displayed next to a photo of an old man with a white summer cap, glasses with horns and bow. The identity of this man is unknown. Van Meir found himself in the Humo archive, in the folder "" Hommes "". Cornelius Bracke

Cornelius Bracke is an old man expressing himself in archaic and obnoxious language. In his section he writes openly what personally annoys his villagers or things he has seen on television. Corneel, however, is not a perfect person. He is a vain, scattered and overpowered man whose well-intentioned plans and initiatives are almost serious or run in the hundred. Corneel is active in various associations who usually meet in the cafe De Kroon. He hugs a big hatred against his rival Freddy Baeckelmans, who is chairman of the Davids fund's local department. Corneel is married to Betty and has a son, David, married to Joëlle, and her daughter has Naomi called (and called Corneel Stubborn Maori). Status

In 1998 Van Meir won the Geuzen Prize for his heading around Cornelius Bracke.

In 2009 Van Meir published a book, Be yellow with your organs, in which he presented an anthology from 25 years of italics around Corneel. Around the same time, in 2009-2010, Corneel's play was also performed on the boards, with Bob De Moor playing Bracke's role in a theater monologue. Sources
