The New West, Center for the Arts, is a center for various art forms located at Molenstraat 6 in the city center of Breda in the district of Breda Centrum. In the New West, four art directions are central: music, visual arts, theater and dance. There is a lot of collaboration with Bredase schools. The cooperation varies from excursions to custom.

The modern glass-built building was designed by the famous architect Herman Hertzberger who also designed the nearby Chassé theater. The Nieuwe Veste features a concert hall, a theater room, ballet hall, a regency room, a recording studio, a small exhibition room, a pantry, a lobby and various classrooms and studios. It is located above the headquarters of the Breda Library. In the library there is the Uitpunt Breda, which provides information about cultural activities in Breda.

Behind the building is an ancient mulberry tree that had to be saved. This tree is seen from the New West. The walls in the New West are bent in acoustics.

The concert hall has 250 seats and is very suitable for chamber music and jazz ensembles. The hall is also used for lectures.

The hall in the main building at Molenstraat 6 is mainly used for music. There are concerts from classical music to pop and jazz. There are many classes, courses and workshops for children, young people and adults in the field of music. There are also secondary establishments.

The main entrance is located in St. Janstraat 18 at the red-colored House Ocrum, which was a burghers house from 1848 until 1952. Via the inner courtyard you will find the Nieuwe Veste. In May 2009 the New West consisted of 15 years, which was celebrated with various activities.

The council of mayors and councilors of the municipality of Breda decided in spring 2011 to recruit the center for the arts Nieuwe Veste and Breda Library to one new organization. This decision is based on the outcome of a feasibility study of the two institutions commissioned in November 2010. Externe link 51° 35′ 17″ NB, 4° 46′ 44″ OL
