Nicola Conte


Nicola Conte (Bari) is an Italian disc jockey, music producer and guitarist known for the introduction of an acid jazz style that combines different genres: bossa Nova, melodies based on Italian film themes from the sixties, easy listening and Indian music.

Conte is a classically trained musician and is from the stable of "The Fez Collective", housed in the Italian city of Bari, with the album label called Schema. The scene there is a musical melting pot from which the typical Italian approach to acid jazz is promoted.

Nicola Contes first album was released in 2000 and is titled Jet Sounds. The previous single Bossa per Due received a lot of international appreciation and still applies as an underground hit. Not soon after that release, the number was already used in a TV commercial for Acura Cars. The license of the album was housed at the Thievery Corporation's ESL (Eitheenth Street Lounge) label, after a few small production adjustments. In 2002, the remix album entitled Jet Sounds Revisited was released on the market and two years later, the French dependence of Blue Note Records released the album "Other Directions". In 2008, after many years of production, other artists came out with the long-awaited CD Rituals, with striking vocal contributions from, among others, José James, Kim Sanders, Chiara Civello and Alice Ricciardi.

In addition to his own work, Conte has many remixes and productions, including songs and albums by Rosalia De Souza, Paolo Achenza Trio, Koop and The Five Corners Quintet, among others. Discography Singles Albums
