Federation of Arab Republics
The Federation of Arab Republics (in Arabic: اتحاد الجمهوريات العربية, transliterated in ittiħād al-jumhūriyyāt al-`arabiyya) was a failed attempt by Gaddafi to bring Libya, Egypt into a federation and Syria. Although approved by a referendum in each individual state in 1972, the three states soon split on the specific terms of the union. The federation, as such, had its life from 1972 to 1977.
