Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X (Jogjakarta, April 2, 1946) is the ruling sultan of Jogjakarta from Mataram's former house ruler, Kartasoera. The sultan of Jogjakarta is still a man of great significance in today's Republican Indonesia. He resides in the Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat.
In May 2015, Hamengkubuwono has identified his eldest daughter Pembayun as his successor. This to the dismay of his male relatives, because officially, a female successor is not yet possible in the sultanate. Also see
