Hr.Ms. Dirkje (1940)


The Hr.Ms. Dirkje (FY 1745) was a Dutch aid mining warden. The ship was built as RO 53 by the shipyard J. Smit Czn. from Alblasserdam. The ship was advanced by the Dutch navy on 28 March 1940 and converted to auxiliary mines and employed as a mining assistant 8. After the fall of the Netherlands in 1940, the ship managed to divert to the United Kingdom. The ship first carried out sweeping operations in British waters. On October 4, 1941, the ship went to West India to perform patrol services. In March 1945, the ship returned to the United Kingdom to return to the owner on December 1, 1945, later that year.
