Abraham offers many animals to God. He even says to sacrifice his own son, if God would give him a son. A few years later, his wife Hagar likes a son. On the eighth of the month Dhul'hijja, Abraham is dreaming that he must sacrifice his son. Ishmael is seven years old and Abraham offers a hundred camels and pleads God to take it instead of his child. The next night he gets the same dream and offers another hundred camels. The third night he dreams the same and he takes Dhul'hijja his son on the tenth of the month. They go to Mina, six and a half miles outside Mecca. The devil comes to them and asks what Abraham's father wants if he wants to kill his own son. Abraham answers that he received this order. Hagar also does not doubt if the devil tells her the true reason for the trip.
The devil tells Ishmael what will happen, but the child also says that an order must be followed. Ishmael tells his father that he should not be sad if he later sees children of his own age. They say goodbye and Abraham wants to cut the throat, but the knife refuses to cut. It does not leave a scratch on the skin. Abraham smears the knife on the rock and the rust breaks into pieces.
