Johann Konrad Oertli


Johann Konrad Oertli (1816 - 1861), home-based in Teufen, was a Swiss politician.

Johann Konrad Oertli originated from an old Ausserrhoder driver family. His father was Landammann Matthias Oertli (1777-1837). He studied medicine like his father and worked as a doctor in Teufen since 1839. He was a member of the city council of Teufen. Later he was Mayor of that city and member of the Grand Council of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. He was from April 1850 until 1852, he was Regerende Landammann (ie Government Leader) of Appenzell Ausserrhoden).

Johannes Konrad Oertli was the first Ausserrhoder from 1848 to 1849, representing the Canton of the Cantonese Council (First Chamber of Bonds).
