Talestri

Talestri dal Promptuarii Iconum Insigniorum

According to legendary story contained in Alessandro's novel, Talestri was a queen of the Amazons who became the lover of Alexander the Great.

Legend has it that Talestri went to the camp of Alessandro escorted by 300 companions; the two sovereigns here together for thirteen nights, wishing to generate children as initiators of a new and strong human race as the Macedonian. The story is quoted in the Book of History by Alexandri Magni di Curzio Rufo.

His figure inspired Maria Antonia Walburga, who composed the musical drama Talestri, Queen of the Amazons (performed in 1760 at the castle of Nymphenburg). The episode is also at the base of the story of Bianca Pitzorno's young man's novel Alessandro Magno's Amazon. Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto Other designers wikitesto
