Tonco Modderman (1818-1879)


Tonco Modderman (Hoogezand, December 31, 1818 - Deventer, April 5, 1879) was a Dutch minister.

Tonco Modderman, son of Antonius Modderman's first marriage to Johanna Catharina de Ranitz, married on 25 July 1843 in Groningen with Johanna Harmanna Hillegonda Feith, a daughter of the writer and poet Rhijnvis Feith. Five children were born from this marriage. He studied theology at the University of Groningen from 1836 to 1842. After graduating, he graduated in 1841 in Eelde in 1846 in Oudkerk and Roodkerk in 1848 in Leeuwarden and finally in Amsterdam in 1858.

Modderman graduated in 1843 in Groningen on a dissertation on John 17. In 1860 he confirmed the dominee and poet Jan Jakob Lodewijk at Kate with a specially written lecture speech to Amsterdam's preaching lecturer. In 1877, Modderman thanked as a minister.

Modderman was editor of the magazine Light, Love and Life. He was administratively active in the Missionary Society and the Evangelical Society. Bibliography
