Firmin Dupulthys

Firmin Dupulthys has been active in the municipal policy in Kortemark since January 1983. First, he was a member of the CVP, later for the list NEW and the VLD of Aimé Desimpel.

He was OCMW chairman for the CVP from 1983 to 1989. He became Mayor of Kortemark from 1995 to 2001 for the VLD, who first broke the entire CVP majority for the first time.

In 2000 he was a list trainer for the VLD, where one seat gain was achieved, to 10 seats. The CVP held 10 seats and coalition partner SP lost its fourth seat. Firmin Dupulthys had the largest number of nominal votes, yet the mayor of the party was in dispute. Coalition partner SP went on with the CVP at sea, where they received the mayor and two shipyards for their three elected. Later he would sit as an independent in the city council.

With the 2006 municipal council elections, Firmin Dupulthys, together with notary Johan De Cuman, had established the Together Strong List. This time there were, with 2 less, only 21 seats to be distributed. The Samen Strong list immediately reached 6 seats and closed a coalition with Open Vld and Sp.a.

Firmin Dupulthys again retrieved the largest number of name votes (1574) and became mayor again. Firmin Dupulthys was born in 1946 and married Hilda Depoortere. Together they have four children: Bart (° 1968), Filip (° 1969), Veroniek (° 1970) and Wim (° 1972). Firmin Dupulthys is the brother of Gerard Dupulthys, Honorary Consul for Suriname.

In 1970, both brothers started their own company for the production of pillows and seat parts. In 1974, they started the production of seats. Dupulthys retired in 2003.
