The Roode Copper


't Roode Koper is a country estate in the woods of the Dutch Leuvenum, founded in 1912 as a residence by the diplomat and later governor of Dutch-India Johan Paul of Limburg Stirum (1873-1948).

In 1911 a forest of about 700 hectares became. purchased by the Society for Conservation of Natural Monuments; However, from Limburg Stirum, as co-heir of this estate, the Leuvenum Forest, retained 67 ha. for this English-style country house. In 1926, this estate was eventually sold to Natuurmonumenten by Van Limburg Stirum and lived in IJsselvliedt. In 1947, the Van der Werf family bought the estates and gave it to the Roode Koper a hotel destination; Van Limburg Stirum has been with the woman at the hotel.
