Tírechán (... - ...) was an Irish bishop, living in the 7th century, who was a biographer of St. Patrick. Biography modifies wikitesto
Nothing is known about his life except what can be seen from his works.
Tírechán wrote his memoirs (so-called "first-person singular", even though they concerned St. Patrick's life) in 657, long after the death of his mentor Ardbraccan's Ultan. The work came to us in the Book of Armagh manuscript.
Tírechán's account, which J. B. Bury dates back to 660 and 670, is often compared to the more or less contemporary narrative of Muirchu moccu Machtheni monk. Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto
